Judge Newton Ramos Neto faces CNJ investigation over misconduct allegations

Federal Judge Newton Pereira Ramos Neto of the TRF1 is facing a disciplinary complaint filed with the National Council of Justice (CNJ). The complaint, filed by lawyer Alex Ferreira Borralho, alleges negligence and misconduct regarding his interactions with banker Daniel Vorcaro.

The allegations suggest that Ramos Neto facilitated various requests for Vorcaro, including luxury accommodations and travel. Furthermore, the complaint highlights a potential conflict of interest involving the judge's wife, Camilla Ramos, whose law firm, Queiroga, Vieira, Queiroz & Ramos Advocacia, reportedly secured a contract with Banco Master involving potential success fees of R$ 427 million.

Additionally, the complaint questions judicial decisions made by Ramos Neto in 2024 that benefited Usina Cansanção, a company whose interests aligned with Banco Master. These rulings, which were unanimous within the TRF1's 11th Chamber, restricted the scope of expert assessments in a case involving compensation claims against the Union. Ramos Neto has defended his actions, noting that the decisions were collegiate and part of large-scale virtual sessions.
