Judge Upholds Voice Forensic Test in Argentine ANDIS Case

Federal Judge Ariel Lijo ruled that the forensic voice comparison ordered in the investigation of former National Disability Agency head Diego Spagnuolo will proceed. The judge dismissed the defense's request to nullify the measure, stating that the request lacked a concrete prejudice to the accused and did not violate the constitutional protection against self‑incrimination. Lijo clarified that obtaining a voice sample is a biometric procedure, comparable to fingerprints or DNA, and does not compel the suspect to provide testimonial evidence. The decision affirms that the sample will be analyzed by experts and that any objections must be recorded without imposing automatic sanctions.

The ruling emphasizes that the voice analysis is intended solely to verify the authenticity of audio recordings linked to the case, not to extract a confession, and that the defense had previously sought a private expert report on the same recordings.
