Argentina ANDIS corruption probe

Overview

In July 2026, Federal Judge Ariel Lijo ruled that a forensic voice comparison could be used in the investigation of former National Disability Agency (ANDIS) head Diego Spagnuolo. The judge rejected the defense’s request to block the measure, stating that obtaining a voice sample is a biometric procedure comparable to fingerprints or DNA and does not violate the suspect’s right against self‑incrimination.

By early August, the same judge ordered the forensic audio examination to begin on 26 August. The National Gendarmerie’s Criminalistics and Forensic Studies Directorate will analyze the recordings for edits, cuts, or AI‑generated voice cloning. Spagnuolo refused to provide a voice sample, invoking his constitutional rights, while his lawyers appealed the order. Prosecutor Franco Picardi urged the court to allow experts to use publicly available interview recordings. The ruling also noted that the case involves roughly 30 other suspects linked to alleged corruption, overpricing, and bribery within ANDIS.

No further developments in the ANDIS investigation have been reported since the August 4 ordering of the forensic analysis.
