Judicial Council dismisses Judge Gjoko Ristov amid corruption trial

The Judicial Council has officially dismissed Gjoko Ristov from his position as an Appeal Court judge. Following the decision made during a session on September 30, 2026, Ristov will receive his full salary for September despite being in pre-trial detention since January 18, 2026.

Ristov is currently facing trial in the Skopje Criminal Court. The prosecution for Organized Crime and Corruption alleges that €350,000 in undeclared cash was discovered hidden within a wall at his family home in Negotino. The investigation into the funds was triggered after an attorney, Fehmi Stafa, was caught receiving €50,000, which he claimed was intended for Ristov.

Ristov’s spouse has publicly stated that the Council's decision was not unexpected and alleged that the members of the Judicial Council acted under pressure.
