Judicial reforms launched in Argentina and Peru to address legal backlogs and organized crime

In Argentina, the Córdoba Superior Court of Justice has launched a program to reduce the backlog of pending labor law cases in the province's interior. Initiated by Luis Angulo, the program began in San Francisco on July 1 and will expand to Villa María and Río Cuarto. The initiative aims to increase resolution rates and shorten procedural timelines by applying a system that previously resolved 91.9% of cases in the capital region, significantly reducing waiting times.

In Peru, the Superior Court of Justice of La Libertad has established the country's first specialized subsystem to combat extortion, contract killing, and related organized crime. Effective August 19, this inter-institutional model includes three preparatory investigation courts, two collegiate criminal courts, and one criminal appeals chamber. The specialized structure, led by experienced judges, is designed to provide faster and more effective judicial responses to organized crime across provincial boundaries.
