JUFED condemns suspension of Zacatecas judge
The National Association of Circuit Magistrates and District Judges (JUFED) has condemned the suspension of Judge María Citlallic Vizcaya Zamudio, head of the Second District Court in Zacatecas. The suspension was issued by the Judicial Discipline Tribunal (TDJ) on October 7.
Judge Vizcaya Zamudio suggested that the disciplinary action may be linked to rulings that caused discomfort to the Governor of Zacatecas, David Monreal. Her recent decisions include matters involving the suspension of bullfighting, the defense of rights for retirees and pensioners, and a provisional resolution regarding the appointment of the head of the State Superior Audit Office.
JUFED warned that the measure highlights the vulnerability of federal judges to regional political interests and cautioned that disciplinary procedures should not be used to penalize jurisdictional criteria that are subject to legal appeal.
