Juicy Luicy clarifies canceled Batam performance amid baggage dispute

The Bandung-based band Juicy Luicy has issued a clarification regarding their canceled performance at the XYZ Liveground festival in Batam on September 5, 2026. The band stated that the decision was not sudden but resulted from the organizer's failure to fulfill agreed-upon obligations.

According to the band, they had been requesting payment certainty and travel arrangements since seven days before the event. While performance fees were finally received 18 hours before departure, the band claims that essential details such as hotel accommodations, return tickets, and prepaid baggage fees remained unconfirmed. The dispute specifically involved significant costs for excess baggage, estimated by the band to be around Rp44 million.

The event organizer, XYZ Liveground, offered a different perspective, suggesting that major arrangements like performance fees and flights were in place and that they had offered a reimbursement mechanism for baggage costs, which the band reportedly declined.

Following the controversy and public criticism, vocalist Julian “Uan” Kaisar expressed his frustration during a social media live stream, and his personal Instagram account was reportedly deactivated. In an effort to mitigate the situation, Juicy Luicy announced they would donate 100% of the remaining funds received from the organizer to people in need in Batam.
