Julian Alvarez transfer saga drives summer market speculation

Barcelona have outlined a €135 million offer, potentially rising to €150 million with bonuses, to sign Atlético Madrid forward Julian Alvarez after the World Cup. The club sees the Argentine as the long‑term replacement for Robert Lewandowski and plans to fund the deal without player swaps, despite Atlético’s firm stance and a hefty release clause.

Arsenal, Real Madrid, Paris Saint‑Germain and other top clubs are also linked to Alvarez. Reports suggest Arsenal could negotiate a €50 million fee plus striker Viktor Gyökeres, while Real Madrid have reportedly made contact with the player’s agents. The striker has indicated a preference for Barcelona, rejecting interest from London and Paris.

Barcelona are simultaneously scouting alternatives in case Alvarez’s move stalls. French youngster Eli Junior Kroupi of Bournemouth, valued at around €100 million, has emerged as a potential backup target, alongside names such as Harry Kane and Mikel Oyarzabal.

The negotiations involve multiple clubs across Spain, England and France, and the outcome will shape the European summer transfer window.
