Colorado Buffaloes defeat Weber State 52-21 behind Julian Lewis' record performance
The Colorado Buffaloes defeated Weber State 52-21 to improve to a 2-0 start for the season. Sophomore quarterback Julian Lewis delivered a record-setting performance, throwing four touchdown passes in the first half and adding a rushing touchdown. Lewis finished the game with 366 passing yards on 17-of-23 completions.
Lewis set a program record by recording 211 passing yards in the first quarter alone. His touchdown connections included DeAndre Moore Jr. for 66 yards, Joseph Williams for 63 yards, and Ernest Campbell for 48 yards. Running back Micah Welch also made history as the first Buffalo running back to surpass 100 rushing yards in a single game since the arrival of head coach Deion Sanders, finishing with 106 yards.
Despite the dominant victory, head coach Deion Sanders expressed dissatisfaction with the team's discipline, noting 13 penalties for 107 yards and a lack of focus once the lead was established. Lewis noted that while the team is improving, there is still significant room to grow to meet their goals for the Big 12 and national championships.
