Julian Ward returns as Liverpool sporting director

Julian Ward has returned to Liverpool as sporting director, succeeding Richard Hughes. Having previously held a similar role in 2022 before departing in 2023, Ward returns to the club after working with Fenway Sports Group (FSG) in a technical capacity.

Ward is reportedly a significant admirer of AS Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara. Reports suggest Liverpool remains a strong contender for the player, as Ward is expected to have influenced the club's prior interest in him. While Camara's rising profile and performance may increase his market value, the club's interest in the midfielder appears to remain high.

Other potential transfer targets being considered to address squad depth include Neco Williams from Nottingham Forest and Tyrick Mitchell from Crystal Palace.
