Netflix series Lupin returns with fourth season

The fourth season of the French heist series ‘Lupin’ premiered on Netflix on October 23, 2026, following a three-year hiatus. The new installment picks up four years after the previous season, with protagonist Assane Diop (Omar Sy) preparing for release from prison. The plot centers on a sophisticated copycat who uses deepfake technology and sophisticated methods to frame Diop for a simultaneous double museum robbery.

While the season has achieved critical acclaim, including a 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes, audience reactions have been mixed. Despite some viewer criticism regarding a shift in tone, the series has reached number one in numerous countries, including France, Germany, Italy, Brazil, and Nigeria.

In Germany, the release has been marked by controversy regarding voice acting. Due to disputes involving AI clauses in contracts, several prominent German voice actors have left the project, resulting in a nearly complete recast of the main characters for the German dubbed version.

Regarding the future of the franchise, while Netflix has not officially confirmed a fifth season, screenwriter Florent Meyer indicated that the writing team is already working on the next installment.
