The Parliamentary Ethics Commission of the Chamber of Deputies has unanimously approved a formal investigation into deputy Julián Pérez Mallqui, a member of the Juntos por el Perú party. The investigation, which will last 15 business days, follows a complaint filed by deputy Christian Aranda of Renovación Popular regarding alleged physical and psychological violence against Pérez Mallqui’s former partner.

The complaint alleges that on July 30, the deputy entered his former partner’s home without authorization, used offensive language, and made intimidating gestures. It is further alleged that he physically assaulted and threatened the complainant while they were being transported to a police station in San Miguel.

The commission, presided over by Henry Albañil Carmona, noted that the investigation will evaluate potential violations of the principles of responsibility, integrity, and justice. The proceedings are registered under File 001-2026-2027/CEP-CR. During the inquiry, the commission intends to collect testimony from the alleged victim, identified by the initials L. E. B. V., and allow the deputy to present his defense.
