President Albañil Carmona stated the commission intends to act “with impartiality and without political protection,” emphasizing that lawmakers must maintain “irreproachable conduct.” On 16 August, Pérez Mallqui denied the domestic violence accusations, describing the incident as a “confusing event” and claiming the complaint was motivated by “anger and rage.” He asserted that he was the one subjected to aggression. Concurrently, reports surfaced regarding a 2001 conviction for aggravated theft involving tools donated by an NGO. On 31 August, the Parliamentary Ethics Commission unanimously approved a formal 15-day investigation into Pérez Mallqui under File 001-2026-2027/CEP-CR. The inquiry, prompted by Christian Aranda’s complaint, will evaluate potential violations of responsibility, integrity, and justice.
