Julio Iglesias faces new allegations of sexual assault and forced labor
Two former employees of singer Julio Iglesias have requested that the Spanish justice system investigate a new complaint against the 82-year-old artist. The women allege they were subjected to continuous sexual harassment, sexual assault, and forced, degrading labor conditions while working at the singer's properties in the Bahamas and the Dominican Republic in 2021.
This new legal action follows a previous complaint filed in January, which was dismissed because Spanish authorities deemed them incompetent to judge events that occurred outside of Spain. The complainants, represented by the NGO Women's Link Worldwide, argue that Spanish courts should handle the case due to the singer's ties to Spain. In an open letter, the women stated they are seeking the fundamental rights to investigation and justice guaranteed by the state.
Julio Iglesias has denied all allegations, describing them as ‘absolutely false’ and stating that he has never abused, coerced, or disrespected any woman.
