The complainants have escalated their case to the United Nations, requesting intervention through six special mechanisms. They have also alerted the UN that their privacy and security were compromised after a video published by Okdiari left one woman’s voice identifiable.
Julio Iglesias has denied all allegations, describing them as ‘absolutely false’ and stating he has never abused or coerced any woman. In response to the reporting, Iglesias has initiated separate legal proceedings in a Madrid court against the news outlet elDiario.es, its director Ignacio Escolar, and several journalists to investigate potential crimes of slander and defamation.
Family members have addressed the proceedings. Julio José Iglesias affirmed his father is doing well, stating, ‘He is better than ever, yes, he is very well,’ while his sister, Ana Boyer, described the situation as ‘very complicated’ and ‘uncomfortable.’
