Jumbo recalls cheese products in Netherlands and Belgium over Listeria risk

Supermarket chain Jumbo has issued multiple product recalls in the Netherlands and Belgium due to potential Listeria contamination in its cheese products.

In the Netherlands, the recall includes Jumbo brand organic brie with an expiration date of September 1, 2026. This follows an earlier warning issued on the same day regarding Jumbo Gorgonzola Dolce. The Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) identified the Gorgonzola batches with EAN code 8718452637508 and expiration dates of September 3, 8, and 10, 2026.

In Belgium, the recall specifically targets Jumbo Gorgonzola Dolce in 200-gram plastic packaging (EAN 8718452637508). Affected batches include 126G15, 126G20, and 126G22, with expiration dates of September 3, 8, or 10. This action was taken in coordination with the Federal Agency for the Safety of the Food Chain (Afsca).

Consumers are advised not to consume the affected products and to return them to a Jumbo store for a full refund, even without a receipt. Listeria contamination poses significant health risks, particularly to pregnant women, young children, the elderly, and immunocompromised individuals, potentially causing fever, muscle aches, nausea, and diarrhea.
