Junín union opposes auction of 149 Procrear housing units
The CGT Regional Junín union has strongly rejected the decision to move forward with an auction of 149 housing units built under the Procrear program in the city of Junín. The union argues that the homes were created as a public policy to guarantee access to decent housing for working‑class families, and that converting them into a real‑estate transaction “desvirtúa el verdadero objetivo” and represents “un grave retroceso”.
CGT demands that the unfinished works be completed and that the units be allocated by lottery to the families that applied, emphasizing that “la vivienda es un derecho, no una mercancía”. It has called on the national government and the Junín municipal authorities to intervene and prevent the sale, urging them to protect the right to housing rather than promote speculative mechanisms.
