Peru‑Brazil border quake of magnitude 5.6 felt in Acre, Brazil
A magnitude 5.6 earthquake struck near Pucallpa, Peru, on the night of 30 July 2026, with a depth of about 145‑154 km, reducing surface impact. The USGS located the epicenter roughly 60 km from the Brazil‑Peru border. Residents in several Acre municipalities—including Marechal Thaumaturgo, Tarauacá, Cruzeiro do Sul and Mâncio Lima—reported light shaking, but no injuries or material damage were recorded.
On the same day, a separate magnitude 5.7 tremor occurred 42 km northeast of Pucallpa in the Ucayali region, at a depth of 116 km. The quake was felt mildly in Lima and other parts of the Amazon basin, with intensity IV in Pucallpa. Authorities also reported no casualties or damage.
Both events were monitored by Peru’s Instituto Geofísico del Perú and the United States Geological Survey, and no emergency alerts were issued.
