Junta de Andalucía proposes denying Alhendín biomethane plant permit

The Junta de Andalucía has proposed denying environmental authorization for a large-scale biomethane plant in Alhendín, a project spearheaded by Greening Solar VIII S. L. The proposal follows an unfavorable urban planning report from the Alhendín City Council and significant public opposition.

Local residents and environmental groups, including the Plataforma STOP Macroplanta Biometano Alhendín and Ecologistas en Acción, have actively contested the project through assemblies, protests, and thousands of formal allegations. Critics argue the facility is incompatible with the Vega de Granada landscape and have challenged the developer's claims regarding the project's environmental impact. A final administrative resolution from the regional government is still pending.
