Juntos por el Perú conditions dialogue with President‑elect Keiko Fujimori and vows protests
Roberto Sánchez, leader of the Juntos por el Perú party, said his group will only engage in dialogue with President‑elect Keiko Fujimori if three conditions are met: the release of former President Pedro Castillo, the creation of an independent commission to investigate the 51 deaths linked to the December 2022 protests, and the repeal of laws that grant impunity to the military and police. Sánchez added that his party will not resort to insults or obstructionist tactics, but will organise peaceful demonstrations during the upcoming Patriotic Holidays.
At the same press conference, Brígida Curo, the party’s former vice‑presidential candidate, responded to a journalist’s question with the insult “No vamos a aceptar, miserable” and reiterated Juntos por el Perú’s refusal to recognise the official election results, alleging electoral irregularities abroad without presenting evidence. Curo announced further protests in the weeks ahead, echoing Sánchez’s plan for public mobilisations.
Both leaders framed their actions as defending democracy and seeking justice for perceived political repression.
