Electoral Integrity Scrutinized in Peru’s Juntos por el Perú and Mexico’s Baja California

Peruvian authorities are investigating a reported parallel fund‑raising network within the political party Juntos por el Perú. Internal chats and a disputed poster suggested that regional coordinators used unofficial accounts to collect money intended for contesting election results, with transfers allegedly directed to personal accounts before being passed to the party treasurer. Party officials have denied the allegations, and the Instituto Aklla’s president called for the National Office of Electoral Processes to evaluate the case and possibly refer it to the Public Ministry.

In Mexico’s Baja California, the president of the state electoral institute (IEEBC) affirmed that the body must investigate any electoral conduct complaints when sufficient evidence exists, while final determinations of infractions rest with the electoral courts. The comments followed a complaint lodged by Tijuana’s syndicate prosecutor against two individuals, not a media outlet, concerning alleged violations of electoral law and gender‑based political violence. The institute outlined its procedural steps for documenting and forwarding cases to the Electoral Justice Tribunal.
