Juárez water agency replaces collapsed sewer pipe in La Presa
The Junta Municipal de Agua y Saneamiento (JMAS) began repairs after a concrete collector pipe collapsed on Calle Once in the La Presa colonia of Ciudad Juárez, Mexico. The 12‑inch concrete line had reached the end of its service life, prompting a full replacement.
JMAS is installing 74 metres of new 12‑inch PVC pipe, along with 12 T‑ and Y‑type fittings that connect to the main network and a household drain. The upgrade will directly serve 12 residences and improve sanitation for the higher‑elevation neighborhoods of Oasis Revolución and División del Norte. Two work crews are using a backhoe, dump truck and a six‑inch motor pump to manage drainage saturation. Officials asked residents to avoid discarding waste into the sewer system to prevent blockages and future failures.
