Juárez Water Authority Repairs Collapsed Drain Pipe and Conducts Night Sewer Maintenance
The Junta Municipal de Agua y Saneamiento (JMAS) in Juárez repaired a sinkhole on Avenida Rafael Pérez Serna after an 18‑inch concrete drainage pipe reached the end of its service life. Workers replaced four metres of pipe with new PVC, closed two of three traffic lanes, and prepared the roadway for asphalt repaving. The same crew also replaced two failing domestic water taps while the work was underway.
In a separate operation, JMAS carried out overnight maintenance on the Teófilo Borunda collector, working from 1 a.m. to 8 a.m. over a two‑kilometre stretch. The team cleaned and serviced 25 inspection chambers, removed a blockage caused by a baby carriage, and cleared accumulated azolve to restore flow ahead of the rainy season. Two traffic lanes were temporarily closed, and residents were urged to avoid discarding waste into the drainage system.
