The Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM) has emerged as the leading force in Morocco’s 2026 legislative elections, securing 97 seats in the 395-seat House of Representatives. Provisional results announced by Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit place the National Rally of Independents (RNI) in second with 66 seats, followed closely by the Istiqlal Party with 65 seats. The Justice and Development Party (PJD) secured 54 seats, marking a significant recovery from its 2021 performance.

The election was characterized by a notable decline in voter participation, which fell to approximately 38% nationally, down from over 50% in 2021. Despite this trend, turnout remained high in the southern provinces, such as the Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra region, where it reached 77%.

As no single party achieved the 198 seats required for a majority, the formation of a new government will depend on political coalitions. PAM leadership has indicated an openness to negotiating with various political entities to build a parliamentary majority.
