Justice ministries in Cambodia and UK announce legal reforms
In Cambodia, the Ministry of Justice convened a technical working group on 5 October 2026 to review proposed amendments to the criminal procedure code. The review focuses on structural and drafting changes to improve the implementation of investigations, prosecutions, and adjudications. These revisions aim to align procedural rules with the current social context and provide clearer guidance for courts and prosecutorial bodies.
In the United Kingdom, new measures were introduced on 5 October 2026 to improve the protection of domestic abuse victims. Courts are now required to make a formal record when domestic abuse is a factor in an offense. This new marking system is designed to help police, prisons, and probation services better identify and manage perpetrators, facilitating more tailored interventions and helping to identify patterns of repeat offending.
