Italian government speeds approval for AS Roma's new Pietralata stadium
The Italian government has appointed Massimo Sessa as extraordinary commissioner for the Euro 2032 stadium dossier. On 15 June he signed the first ordinance that accelerates the authorization process for AS Roma’s new stadium in the Pietralata district, declaring the project a strategic national interest. The new rules cut the standard 180‑day service conference to 90 days and set a detailed timeline for document checks, public observations, and the final conference of services. Sports Minister Andrea Abodi said the “more streamlined procedures, certain timetables and full coordination between the municipality and the region will guarantee transparent, legal and environmentally‑sound development.” The stadium, required for the 2032 European Championship, must have its definitive project signed by July 2026 and construction begin by March 2027.
