Juventus saves €40 million as Vlahovic leaves, Atletico eyes free deal

Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic, signed by Juventus in January 2022 for a reported €70 million plus fees, will become a free agent at the end of the 2025‑26 season after the club chose not to renew his contract. Juventus calculates that his departure frees roughly €40 million a year in combined salary and amortisation costs, after four and a half seasons that cost the club more than €160 million in total outlays.

Atletico Madrid are monitoring Vlahovic’s situation closely, seeing him as a potential zero‑fee replacement for Norwegian forward Alexander Sorloth, who was bought for €30 million. Selling Sorloth would generate a profit and free up salary space, allowing Atletico to allocate resources to a high‑profile striker without a transfer fee.

The move would improve Juventus’s financial flexibility ahead of the next transfer window and give Atletico a chance to strengthen its attack while preserving its wage budget.
