K Hospital reports rising cancer rates in people under 50

Medical experts at K Hospital report a rising trend of cancer diagnoses in individuals under the age of 50. Recent data from the facility indicates that approximately one-third of their patients fall into this younger demographic, with increasing instances of lung, breast, thyroid, colorectal, stomach, and kidney cancers.

Dr. Ha Hai Nam, Deputy Head of Abdominal Surgery Department 1 at K Hospital, identified four primary risk groups contributing to early-onset cancer: 1. Obesity and poor nutrition, including diets high in processed foods and low physical activity. 2. Smoking and exposure to secondhand smoke. 3. Exposure to microorganisms such as HPV, Hepatitis B and C, and Helicobacter pylori. 4. Family history of cancer.

Beyond health implications, cancer in the 30-40 age group presents significant socioeconomic challenges, including reduced labor capacity and financial burdens on families. Dr. Nam noted that treatment for younger patients must prioritize long-term quality of life and reproductive health, as these individuals often face decades of life ahead following diagnosis.
