Telangana political tensions rise amid corruption and welfare disputes

Political tensions in Telangana have escalated as BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) criticized Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on several fronts. KTR condemned Reddy’s alleged remarks categorizing a community as “skilled labourers,” labeling the comment a “racist mentality” and a “politics of prejudice.”

KTR also alleged widespread corruption within the state, claiming that even ruling Congress MLAs are publicly questioning the government's integrity. He demanded that central investigative agencies conduct impartial probes into these irregularities. Additionally, KTR called for statewide protests against the potential scrapping of the Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak welfare schemes following a High Court stay.

In response, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced that the Telangana Assembly would convene in September. He challenged former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao to attend the session to discuss the state's development and the significant debt burden he claims was left by the previous BRS administration. During a visit to Medaram, Reddy also inaugurated various development projects and launched the Cheyutha pensions.
