Ka Ying Rising achieves record-breaking sprinter rating

Hong Kong racehorse Ka Ying Rising has achieved a historic milestone following a dominant victory in the Group 3 HKSAR Chief Executive’s Cup at Sha Tin. The David Hayes-trained sprinter won the 1,200m race by seven and three-quarter lengths, clocking a time of 1:06.11, which lowered his own course record by nearly a second.

Following this performance, Ka Ying Rising reached a rating of 135 in the Longines World’s Best Racehorse Rankings. This mark surpasses the previous all-time high for a sprinter, which was 132 set by the Australian champion Black Caviar in 2011. The rating places him alongside horses such as Baaeed and Equinox, and makes him the equal fourth highest-rated horse since the rankings were introduced in 2008.

The victory marks Ka Ying Rising’s 21st consecutive win and his 22nd career victory from 24 starts. The horse has entered quarantine in preparation for the Group One race, The Everest, scheduled for October 17 at Randwick in Australia.
