Türkiye celebrates 103rd Republic Day with nationwide festivities

Türkiye is celebrating the 103rd anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic with diverse events across the country. In Siirt, celebrations include wreath-laying ceremonies, lantern processions, and traditional folk dance performances. In Osmaniye's Sumbas district, festivities featured tree planting and flag-carrying marches.

In urban centers like Çankaya, Ankara, programs include concerts, historical lectures, and parades. Other regional celebrations include a large-scale Lykos Half Marathon in Denizli, which drew approximately 20,000 participants from 26 countries, and various musical performances and lantern processions in Antalya, Alaşehir, and Nilüfer.

Regarding the holiday schedule, the official Republic Day holiday begins at 13:00 on October 28 and continues through October 29. For educators, Ministry of National Education regulations dictate that permanent and contract teachers are considered to have completed their monthly lesson requirements during the holiday, ensuring full payment for certain duties, whereas substitute teachers and those in support courses are paid based on actual hours worked.
