An international workshop titled ‘Prehistoric Pottery in Upper Mesopotamia and Beyond (7000-4000 BC)’ is being held in Kahramanmaraş, Turkey. Hosted by the Kahramanmaraş Metropolitan Municipality in collaboration with Hacettepe University, Koç University, and the Netherlands Research Institute, the event brings together 30 researchers and academics from various countries, including Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, and Azerbaijan.
The three-day scientific program focuses on the development of pottery production techniques, archaeological findings in the Upper Mesopotamia region, and the social and symbolic functions of ceramics during the Neolithic and Chalcolithic periods. Key discussions include local and non-local elements in Domuztepe pottery and Neolithic traditions at Yumuktepe. The workshop aims to highlight the region's archaeological heritage, specifically through research conducted at the Domuztepe Mound.
