Two Kahramanmaraş officials charged over Bad‑ı Saba housing collapse that killed 42
The Bad‑ı Saba housing complex in Güneşevler Mahallesi, Kahramanmaraş, collapsed during the February 6 earthquake, killing 42 people and injuring 17. The Kahramanmaraş Chief Public Prosecutor completed its investigation and filed an indictment against two municipal officials – Deputy Head of Planning and Development A. Ö. and Deputy Head S. B. – who had approved the ground‑study reports and issued the building permit for the project. They are charged with “willful negligence causing the death and injury of multiple persons” and face up to 22 years and six months in prison each.
The indictment was merged with the main case involving the contractor, his partner, the architect, site managers, the geotechnical engineer, and a building‑inspection firm official, all of whom are also accused of the same offense. The Kahramanmaraş 1st Heavy Penal Court accepted the indictment and scheduled a hearing for June 30, when the two officials will appear alongside ten other defendants.
