Kahramanmaraş Solar Power Plant Opens with Kuwait Funding

The Kahramanmaraş Solar Energy Plant in the Karabıyıklı neighbourhood of Pazarcık, Turkey, was inaugurated after a ceremony attended by Turkish officials and Kuwaiti representatives. Built on 100,000 m² with a capacity of 6 MW, the facility cost roughly 200 million TL and is expected to meet about 60 % of the metropolitan municipality’s electricity demand. Financing was provided by the Kuwait Arab Economic Development Fund, whose ambassador in Ankara and fund officials highlighted the project as a concrete example of sustainable development and deepening Turkey‑Kuwait cooperation. Mayor Fırat Görgel and Agriculture and Forestry Minister Vahit Kirişci praised the plant as the city’s largest solar‑energy investment, emphasizing its role in reducing energy costs and supporting the transition to renewable power. The opening marks a strategic step for local authorities toward energy self‑sufficiency and greener urban infrastructure.
