Kai Tak Hospital to begin phased rollout in Hong Kong

Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Hospital (KTH) is scheduled to begin a phased operational rollout starting 5 October. The initial phase will feature the opening of the Oncology Block and the Family Medicine Integrated Centre under the Specialist Out-patient Clinic Block. The integrated centre will initially offer approximately 250 family medicine clinic quotas per day, with appointments for episodic illnesses becoming available on 4 October.

Starting in late October, various specialist out-patient services from Queen Elizabeth Hospital—including departments of medicine, surgery, neurosurgery, and clinical oncology—will transfer to the new facility in batches. Other services, such as pharmacy, pathology, diagnostic radiology, and the Patient Resource Centre, will also roll out gradually throughout October.

A second phase of the rollout will introduce major clinical services, including in-patient care, surgical services, and accident and emergency departments. Once in-patient services are active, remaining specialties such as paediatrics, orthopaedics, traumatology, and obstetrics and gynaecology will also relocate to KTH.
