An investigation has been reopened into the 2011 death of Kaşif Kozinoğlu, a former National Intelligence Organization (MİT) official who died while in custody at Silivri Prison. Following a decision by the Silivri Chief Public Prosecutor's Office to overturn a 2012 non-prosecution ruling, authorities have initiated an exhumation of Kozinoğlu's grave in Ümraniye to determine the exact cause of death and investigate potential third-party intervention.

A five-person expert team, including forensic specialists, a chemist, and an autopsy technician, has begun collecting bone, soil, and biological samples for laboratory analysis. The findings will be cross-referenced with prison camera footage, 112 emergency calls, and hospital records. The investigation is exploring various possibilities, including whether the death was a heart attack or the result of poisoning or unauthorized medication.

Two waves of operations have led to multiple detentions. In the first wave, 10 suspects were detained, resulting in one arrest. A second wave of operations led to the detention of nine additional suspects, including journalists and healthcare workers. Among those processed, several individuals, including journalist Selahattin Günday and certain medical personnel, have faced requests for arrest on charges such as membership in an organization and manslaughter.
