Kaşif Kozinoğlu death investigation expands with new detentions

An investigation into the 2011 death of former National Intelligence Organization (MİT) officer Kaşif Kozinoğlu, who died while detained in Silivri Prison, has entered a new phase. Authorities are working to determine the exact cause of death and whether third-party intervention occurred, including investigating whether unauthorized medication was administered while in custody.

A planned exhumation of Kozinoğlu’s grave at Kocatepe Cemetery was postponed. The procedure, which will involve a team of forensic experts, chemists, and autopsy technicians, aims to collect bone and soil samples to be analyzed alongside prison camera footage, emergency service records, and hospital documents.

Two waves of police operations have been conducted as part of the probe. In the first wave, 10 suspects were detained, resulting in one arrest and seven judicial controls. A second wave of operations led to the detention of nine additional individuals, including healthcare workers, a reporter, and a cameraman. Reports indicate the investigation has also extended to the Ereğli district of Konya.
