Kaimana speed boat accident: 7 KSDA members rescued safe
A speed boat carrying seven members of the Natural Resources Conservation (KSDA) group sank in the Karawai waters of Kaimana Regency, West Papua, on Sunday, September 20, 2026. The vessel had departed Kaimana on Saturday to conduct a survey of the KSDA office in Karawatu.
Following a report received by the Timika Search and Rescue Office, a joint SAR team was deployed to the location. Upon arrival, rescuers found that all seven passengers had successfully reached the coastline and were safe. The team evacuated the victims back to Kaimana to be reunited with their families, marking the conclusion of the rescue operation.
