Kaiser Permanente announces 147 layoffs across California

Kaiser Permanente has announced the permanent elimination of 147 non-frontline positions across California. The layoffs, which are scheduled to take effect on November 20, primarily impact business and administrative functions rather than direct patient care.

Most of the job cuts are concentrated in Southern California, with San Diego facing the largest reduction of 72 administrative workers. Other affected locations include 20 positions in Pasadena, 22 in Pleasanton, and 12 in Oakland. Additional cuts are distributed across Sacramento, Folsom, Los Angeles, Corona, and Irvine.

The healthcare provider stated that these changes are part of an ongoing evaluation of work organization and resource deployment to maintain affordable and accessible care. Kaiser Permanente is offering affected employees severance, career support, and outplacement services.
