KAIST robot RAIBO2 completes marathon on single battery charge

The quadruped robot RAIBO2 successfully completed a full marathon, covering 42.195 kilometers in 4 hours, 19 minutes, and 52 seconds on a single battery charge. Developed by a research team led by Professor Jemin Hwangbo at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), the robot demonstrated higher energy efficiency than a human during the event.

The robot participated in the Sangju Dried Persimmon Marathon in South Korea. During the run, researchers collected extensive technical data using sensors to monitor voltage, current, temperature, and battery state of charge, which were synchronized with GPS data for position, speed, and elevation. The findings from this study have been published in the scientific journal Nature.
