Kakamega police boss charged with defilement of 14-year-old
Wycliffe Kwendo, the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) of Lumakanda Police Station in Lugari Sub-County, Kakamega County, has been charged with the defilement of a 14-year-old girl.
According to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), the alleged offences occurred between September 24 and September 27, 2026. In addition to the primary charge of defilement under the Sexual Offences Act, Kwendo faces an alternative charge of committing an indecent act with a child and a charge of abuse of a position of authority.
During a court appearance before Senior Resident Magistrate Dorcas Mac’andere on Wednesday, September 30, prosecutors opposed the release of the accused on bail or bond, citing the serious nature of the allegations. The court subsequently remanded Kwendo in custody until October 1, 2026, pending a determination on bond terms.
