Kalamata calls for investment in student housing to boost city growth

Local student representatives in Kalamata have highlighted the city’s housing crisis, arguing that affordable student accommodation is essential for the town’s economic and cultural development. The PASP Kalamata student party, led by secretary Georgios Galiagris, says thousands of young people choose Kalamata each year for their studies, supporting local businesses, restaurants, and cultural life. The group urges municipal and national authorities to adopt coordinated plans, increase funding for university facilities and ensure decent, low‑cost housing so that no student is forced to abandon their studies because of living expenses.

PASP Kalamata stresses that investing in student housing is an investment in the future of Kalamata and the wider region of Messinia, calling for concrete policy measures and political will to resolve the crisis.
