Kalambaka Section of Greece’s E65 Highway Scene of Fatal Accident

On Tuesday, 20 July, a 77‑year‑old woman was found dead on the under‑construction northern segment of the E65 highway near Kalambaka, Greece, just three days before the section’s scheduled opening on 23 July. The woman had entered the closed road from the wrong direction and travelled a short distance against traffic before her vehicle came to a stop. She was discovered unconscious close to her car, sustaining severe head injuries, and later died.

Authorities are conducting a preliminary investigation, considering the possibility of a fall into a ditch, and a forensic autopsy is pending to determine the exact cause of death.
