Kalindi Pass rescue operation completes with 19 people saved

A two-day helicopter rescue operation has successfully evacuated 19 trekkers and porters stranded in the high-altitude Kalindi Pass region of Uttarakhand. The operation, conducted under the supervision of District Magistrate Prashant Arya, targeted the Kalindi Khal area, which is situated at an elevation of over 5,900 meters.

On the first day of the mission, September 28, 11 individuals were airlifted to the Harshil helipad. The operation continued on September 29, with the remaining eight people being rescued in two separate groups. Following their arrival at Harshil, all individuals underwent medical examinations and were found to be in stable condition.

The rescue was coordinated by local administration and rescue agencies, including Additional District Magistrate Mukta Mishra, to manage the challenges posed by extreme altitude and adverse weather conditions. The Kalindi Pass is a difficult trekking route connecting Gangotri to Badrinath, known for its unpredictable weather and low oxygen levels.
