Seven suspects appear before judge in Kallithea murder of 15‑year‑old

On 24 June in the Kallithea district of Athens, a clash between three groups of youths resulted in the fatal stabbing of a 15‑year‑old boy. Police identified 17 participants; seven were arrested and today (29 June) were brought before the investigating magistrate. The suspects are expected to claim the fight was spontaneous, that they did not know a knife was present and that they did not intend to kill the victim, arguing the incident stemmed from personal and fan‑group disputes.

The 17‑year‑old alleged attacker admitted to using a knife but said he only intended to frighten the boy, stating “I wanted to scare him.” He described retrieving the weapon during the fight and striking the victim while trying to protect himself. Witnesses reported hearing the victim’s heavy breathing and hearing him say “I can’t.” The investigation also uncovered that several participants wore fan‑group T‑shirts, which they later turned inside‑out to obscure identifiers. The police are continuing to locate additional participants for prosecution.
