Kalo Gold confirms gold-silver electrum discovery in Fiji

Kalo Gold has confirmed the presence of electrum, a natural gold-silver alloy, within a drill core from the Wainikoro target at its Vatu-Aurum Project in Fiji. Microscopic analysis using scanning electron microscopy (SEM-EDS) identified a 20-micrometer electrum grain composed of 68.6 percent gold and 31.4 percent silver.

The discovery, supported by research from the Camborne School of Mines, provides critical mineralogical evidence regarding how precious metals are distributed within the volcanic system. The electrum was found embedded in altered volcanic breccia near arsenic-bearing pyrite, suggesting that gold deposits preferentially accumulate in fractured zones that acted as channels for hydrothermal fluids.

These findings are expected to refine Kalo Gold’s exploration model for future drilling. Previous results from drill hole VA26-DH19 showed gold grades of 1.61 g/t over 1.50 meters at a depth of approximately 150 meters.
