Phantom launches Kalshi prediction markets for US users

Crypto wallet provider Phantom has begun a staged rollout of prediction market trading for users in the United States. Through this integration, Phantom users can trade contracts on Kalshi, a regulated futures exchange, directly within the wallet app.

To access these markets, users must link or open a Kalshi account and complete identity verification, which may include providing a Social Security number or government ID. While Phantom facilitates the interface, Kalshi remains responsible for approving and maintaining user trading accounts and executing trades. Phantom charges a fee of $0.01 per contract in addition to Kalshi’s own $0.01 exchange fee.

The service operates under regulatory relief granted by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) in March, which allows Phantom to avoid registering as an introducing broker under specific conditions. Despite this federal oversight, availability remains subject to state-level regulations and ongoing legal disputes regarding whether certain prediction markets, particularly those involving sports, fall under state gambling laws.
