Kalshi prediction markets see activity in AI IPOs and space exploration

Prediction market Kalshi is seeing significant trading volume, totaling $1.4 million, across diverse sectors including artificial intelligence, space exploration, and geopolitics. In the technology sector, investors are heavily speculating on the timing of initial public offerings (IPOs) for major AI labs. Market odds currently reflect an 87.0% probability that OpenAI will go public before Anthropic before the year 2040.

Space exploration is another major theme in the markets. Current odds place the United States as the favorite (58.0%) to be the next country to send humans to the Moon before 2031, followed by China at 48.0%. In the private sector, Blue Origin is favored at 62.0% to land on the Moon before SpaceX before 2030. However, there is skepticism regarding near-term Mars missions, with a 74.0% probability that SpaceX will not land anything on Mars before 2030.

Kalshi is also targeting institutional investors on Wall Street, pitching its platform as a superior tool for direct hedging compared to traditional derivatives. The company's institutional strategy focuses on providing customisable contracts that map precisely to specific risks and offering crowdsourced intelligence derived from its high-accuracy market data.
