Kalymnos Hospital receives water system upgrades and medical staff
Greek Health Minister Adonis Georgiadis announced that several commitments made to improve Kalymnos Hospital are being implemented. A major development is the installation of a complete water storage, chlorination, and distribution system, which has been operational since August 12. This system includes disinfection units at the Voubaleio, Chalkikeio, and the Artificial Kidney Unit to resolve long-standing water quality issues.
In addition to infrastructure, medical services are being bolstered. A neurosurgery director from Voula has already examined 230 patients and performed nine surgeries on the island within a month of relocating. Furthermore, the government is arranging the transfer of an orthopedic team from Rhodes Hospital and is proceeding with the hiring of six auxiliary staff members for critical specialties and services.
