Kangal shepherd dogs compete in beauty contest in Sivas

The Sivas Municipality organized the "Kangal Shepherd Dogs and Anatolian Shepherd Dogs Breed Standards and Beauty Contest" at the Sıcak Çermik Hot Springs. The event, the first of its kind since 2019, aimed to promote the Kangal dog, a significant brand value for the Sivas region.

A total of 253 Kangal dogs from 22 different provinces participated in the competition. Dogs were evaluated by a jury across five distinct categories: male, female, puppy, veteran, and a special jury award for those over five years old. Judging criteria included the head, body, neck, legs, color, and adherence to breed standards.

Sivas Mayor Adem Uzun noted that the widespread participation from various provinces demonstrates that Kangal dogs are being raised and valued beyond Sivas. Winners in each category received special awards.
