Kangal dog beauty contest in Sivas

Overview

The Sivas Municipality organized the “Kangal Shepherd Dogs and Anatolian Shepherd Dogs Breed Standards and Beauty Contest” at the Sıcak Çermik Hot Springs. This event, the first of its kind since 2019, featured 253 Kangal dogs from 22 provinces competing across five categories: male, female, puppy, veteran, and a special award for dogs over five years old. Judges evaluated participants based on breed standards, including head, body, neck, legs, and color.

In the 6-12 month category, a one-year-old Kangal named Bozok won first place. Owned by İsmail Demirkoparan, a local manufacturer, Bozok was raised as a mascot in an industrial workshop. Despite the challenges of growing up in a factory environment, the dog was groomed for the competition, and his owner noted that the victory was a significant source of pride for the workplace.
